India announces 17-man squad for 2022 Under-19 World Cup; Yash Dhul named captain

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced a 17-man squad for the upcoming ICCC Under-19 Men’s World Cup. The mega ICC tournament will be played from 14 January to 5 February 2022 in four host countries. Cricket West Indies is the host of the tournament. Delhi’s Yash Dhul has been named the captain of India’s Under-19 team while SK Rashid has been made the deputy captain.

“The All India Junior Selection Committee has selected the Indian team for the upcoming ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup to be played in the West Indies from 14 January to 5 February 2022 in the four host countries. In the 14th edition of the tournament, 16 teams will compete for the trophy in 48 matches.

India is the most successful team having won four titles in 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018. India has also been runners-up in the previous edition of the tournament held in 2016 and in 2020 in New Zealand.

India will begin their 2022 Under-19 World Cup campaign against South Africa on January 15.

Currently, the 25-member India Under-19 team is conducting a preparatory camp at the NCA ahead of the upcoming ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, which is to be played in the UAE from December 23. Yash will lead the India Under-19 team. ACC U19 Asia Cup.
