Sachin Pilot’s “Jan Sangharsh Yatra” had no impact as no one took it seriously, says an Independent MLA in Rajasthan

An independent MLA in Rajasthan has urged former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot not to make himself a “laughing stock” as he hit out at the Congress leader’s call for action against corruption during the previous BJP rule in the state.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s advisor and Sirohi MLA Sanyam Lodha said he has been speaking against the corruption of the previous BJP government in the state assembly for the last five years, but he did not get any support from Pilot.

“In these five years, I have been raising the issues of corruption and paper leaks (in government recruitment exams) by the previous BJP government in the Assembly debates. He (Pilot) or his team members did not support us then, Lodha told reporters.

“This is Rajasthan and the people of the state understand why you (Pilot) are raising the issues of unemployment and corruption of previous governments in an election year. Don’t make yourself a laughing stock and work with dignity and discipline for the party you are a part of, Lodha said.

The Sirohi MLA said Pilot’s “Jan Sangharsh Yatra” had no effect as no one took it seriously.

“All supporters seen on the tour are sponsored. And whatever step He takes, He can do. Lodha said, politics is an open field.

Pilot had last week launched a five-day padyatra against corruption and the paper leak of government recruitment exams.

During a rally in Jaipur on Monday, Pilot announced that he would launch a statewide agitation if the government did not act on his demands by the end of the month.

At least 14 Congress MLAs were seen on the dais along with Pilot, indicating their support for the leader who led the rebellion against Gehlot in 2020. However, Pilot’s office had claimed that 28 sitting and former MLAs had attended the rally.

The Pilot camp also claimed that the rally was attended by five mandal presidents of the state government, seven Pradesh Congress Committee office-bearers, 10 district unit presidents and 17 leaders who have contested elections on party tickets in the past.

The show of strength by Pilot comes months before the assembly elections when the party hopes to return to power in Rajasthan.

Lodha on Thursday shared past incidents which he claimed had angered the pilot.

He said that Pilot was the first to get angry when his car was not allowed to enter through the gate meant for people holding the highest constitutional posts.

Lodha claimed that later when he was not given a room in the chief minister’s block in the secretariat, he too became angry.

Lodha alleged that even after being removed from the post, Pilot continued to occupy the deputy chief minister’s bungalow, while according to the rules, the house has to be vacated within a month.

He said that Pilot was also unhappy about his seat in the assembly and demanded to be given a seat in the first row despite not having seniority.
