India has wiped out West Indies in the three-match ODI series. They defeated Windies by 96 runs in the third ODI match played in Ahmedabad on Friday (11 February). With this win, Team India won the series by 3-0. The Indian team has been successful in winning an ODI series for the first time this year. Earlier, they had lost the series 0-3 against South Africa. Team India has eliminated West Indies in the ODI series for the first time.

Rohit Sharma has eliminated a team for the second consecutive series under his captaincy. He was made the T20 captain of Team India after the T20 World Cup last year. In their first series, New Zealand were crushed 3–0 in three T20Is. After this, he was made the captain of the ODI team just before the Indian team’s tour of South Africa. However, he could not go on the tour of South Africa due to fitness problems. Now by eliminating West Indies in the ODI series, he has proved his captaincy iron.

Famous Krishna selected man of the series

India’s middle order batsmen as well as bowlers performed tremendously in the match. Shreyas Iyer scored 80 runs in 111 balls. Rishabh Pant scored 56 off 54 balls. After this, Mohammad Siraj and famous Krishna took three wickets each in the bowlers. Deepak Chahar and Kuldeep Yadav got two successes each. India scored 265 for 10 in 50 overs. In reply, West Indies team scored 169 for 10 in 37.1 overs. Famous Krishna was adjudged man of the series and Shreyas Iyer was adjudged man of the match.

India’s top order fails

Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. After 320 days in ODIs, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan batted together in the opening, but could not do any wonders. Rohit got out after scoring 13 runs. He shared only 16 runs partnership with Dhawan. Rohit was dismissed by Alzarri Joseph. After him, former captain Virat Kohli could not even open the account. He gave a catch to wicketkeeper Shai Hope off Joseph’s ball. Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed by Oden Smith on a personal score of 10 runs. The team’s top order collapsed for 42 runs in 9.3 overs.

Pant and Iyer did wonders in the middle order

Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer took over the team’s innings after the fall of three wickets. The duo shared a 110-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Iyer hit nine fours in his innings of 80 runs. At the same time, Pant hit six fours and a six in his innings of 56 runs. After Pant’s dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav came to the crease, but he failed in this match. He was dismissed for six off seven balls by Fabian Allen. After that, Iyer was dismissed by Hayden Walsh Jr.

The lower order crossed the team’s line even once

Washington Sundar and Deepak Chahar put on 53 runs for the seventh wicket after six wickets fell for 187 runs. Chahar became the victim of Jason Holder by scoring 38 runs in 38 balls. He hit four fours and two sixes. Washington Sundar scored 33 runs in 34 balls. During this he hit two fours and a six. Kuldeep Yadav was dismissed for five and Mohammad Siraj scored four runs.

West Indies disappointed once again

West Indies batsmen disappointed for the third time in a row. None of the batsmen could score a half-century in this match. Oden Smith scored the highest 36 runs. Apart from him, captain Nicholas Pooran scored 34, Alzarri Joseph 29, Darren Bravo 19, Brandon King 14 and Hayden Walsh Jr scored 13 runs. Jason Holder was dismissed for six and Shai Hope for five. Shamrah Brooks and Kemar Roach could not even open the account.
