IND vs WI 2nd Test: West Indies in no hurry as Indian bowlers made to toil hard on third day

IND vs WI 2nd Test: Kraigg Brathwaite’s men did not look in any hurry on the third day of the second Test against India as they forced the opposition bowlers to work hard on the field. The third day proved to be a tough day for the Indian bowlers as they managed only 4 wickets in 67 overs and rain played spoilsport for some part of the contest. Brathwaite brought up his 29th Test half-century as Windies ended the day at 229/5.

There was not much to the pitch at Port of Spain as only a few balls were taking good turn. The hosts continued to harass them to keep the Indians away. He only added 31 runs to the night’s score of 86 in nearly an hour, before Kirk McKenzie was dismissed by Mukesh Kumar, who became his first international wicket. The rain gods came down and lunch was hurried. The next two sessions saw time amendments and rain again cut short, this time in the final session.

West Indies have no special intention on the third day

Windies were not trying to score much as they added only 143 runs in 67 overs. In the second session, the Windies added only 57 runs in 34 overs and lost the wicket of McKenzie. India took three wickets in the last session. The biggest highlight of the day was a half-century from West Indies skipper Brathwaite, who showed his temperament and patience to bat for long periods of time. He scored 75 off 235 balls before being taken by a ripper from Ravi Ashwin.

After Brathwaite left, Ravindra Jadeja And Mohammed Siraj took one each to send the half side back. Jadeja was helped to take the wicket of Jermaine Blackwood Ajinkya RahaneSuperb slip catch while Siraj produces a ripper to castle Joshua Da Silva. Jadeja proved to be the star with the ball till the third day and took two wickets while everyone else got one wicket each Jaydev UnadkatWhich is wicketless.

The hosts are still 209 runs behind and now two days of cricket are left. It will be interesting to see when India get rid of the remaining batsmen with the new cherry in their hand, who is barely five overs old.
