Rohit Sharma admitted that Kishan not getting a place in the XI is a bit unfortunate but the decision was taken considering Gill’s performance in the last 8-9 months.

The selectors picked Gill and Ishan Kishan in place of the experienced Shikhar Dhawan as both the youngsters did well in limited opportunities last year. Gill, on the other hand, opened the innings for India on several occasions last year with Dhawan and scored with good consistency on the tours of West Indies, Zimbabwe and New Zealand.
