IND vs SL: Ravindra Jadeja becomes third Indian to score more than 150 in a Test

Flamboyant India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja achieved another feat in the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. After scoring a sensational unbeaten 175 in the first innings, the southpaw claimed a half-century with the ball and bundled out Sri Lanka for just 174 on the third day. Apart from this, Jadeja also equaled veteran Bishan Singh Bedi’s number of five-wicket hauls at home by a left-arm spinner. It was Jadeja’s eighth six at home as he overtook former spinner Pragyan Ojha (7).

Earlier, on the second day, Jadeja broke the long-standing Kapil Dev record by batting at number 7 or below for India. Kapil scored 163 runs against Sri Lanka in 1986.

After Pant departed for 96, Jadeja joined hands with Ravichandran Ashwin to take India to a comfortable 130 on the second day. After his departure, Jadeja decided to take on the Sri Lankan bowlers on his own as he scored some quick runs to take India past 550 in a quick time.

Jadeja, who returned to the crease for 45, went past 150 with a six off Dhananjay de Silva and shared an unbeaten 103-run partnership with number 10 Mohammed Shami, who scored 20 runs.
