Umran Malik delivered a complete scorer, dismissing Sri Lanka’s top-order batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa.

Malik, who had taken 2 wickets in the previous engagement between the sides, continued his wicket-taking form as he obliterated Rajapaksa’s stumps.

Malik’s wicket-taking delivery clocked at 147 kmph as the Sri Lankan batsman smashed the ball onto the stumps, bringing a premature end to his innings.

After this the Indian fast bowler dismissed Charith Aslanka, who was caught by Shubman Gill.

Soon after the Lankan all-rounder came out to bat, Malik followed up with an even better delivery to send Wanindu Hasaranga back to the pavilion.

Sri Lanka were 83 for 1 at the end of nine overs riding on a blistering knock from Kushal Mendis, who was well supported by Pathum Nissanka.

Mendis was shown the way to the dugout by Yuzvendra Chahal as the Indian caught the batsman in front of the wickets. Rajapaksa batted for 1 for 80 before being cleaned up by a superb delivery from Indian pacer Malik.

Sri Lanka started on a positive note as Mendis’ quickfire 52 off 31 balls gave the visitors an early lead.

Arshdeep Singh, who had come into the team to replace Harshal Patel, was dismissed by the Sri Lankan batsman, who smashed the Indian pacer all over the park after a breach by the bowler.

The young bowler crossed the crease thrice in his first over and conceded 19 runs in his opening over. His troubles with no-balls did not go away as he also gave away several free hits towards the end of the innings.

Axar Patel took his two wickets, sending Nissanka and Dhananjay de Silva back to the dugout.
