IND vs SA 5th T20I ‘India has the upper hand’: Wasim Jaffer says South Africa must be ‘mentally hurt’

Team after leveling the series 2-2 in Rajkot India Another T20I series win at home will be when they take the field against South Africa on Sunday. The decider will be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and fans are eagerly waiting for the high-voltage clash.

India will be high with confidence, especially the way they came back in the series. After losing the first two games in Delhi and Cuttack, he bounced back with clinical victories in Vizag and Rajkot, dismissing the visitors on both occasions. Also, the final fixture had India’s biggest win over the Proteas in terms of margin of 82 runs.

South Africa, on the other hand, lost momentum after a few wins at the start. The fitness of Temba Bavuma and Marco Jensen has been raised in question with the availability of both of them getting injured while batting on Friday. Since Aiden Markram is already out of the series, it could be challenging for viewers if Bavuma and Jensen had to drop out.

In the final face-off, former India opener Wasim Jaffer said that the visitors must have been mentally hurt after the last two losses. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, he said that India will have a bigger edge considering the margin of victory in the last two matches.

“India will have the upper hand in Bangalore as both their victories have been by big margins. South Africa must be mentally hurt that they went on to win the first two matches so easily. There is also some injury concern with Bavuma and maybe Marco Jensen getting injured, Aiden Markram is also gone so I think India have the upper hand for this match,” Jaffer said.

Talking about the change in India’s playing XI, Jaffer said that the think tank will not tinker with the winning combination.

“We were expecting some changes after the first two losses, but India did not make any changes, so I don’t think there will be any change when they win the two matches. If we have to throw names in the hat, it could be Deepak Hooda for Shreyas Iyer as he batted at No. IPL Also successful as well. But with the pattern the Indian team is playing in, I think we will see more continuity,” Jaffer continued.
