Asia Cup 2023 is all set to begin in late August as regional teams from across Asia will battle it out against each other for Asian glory. The venues of the tournament are Pakistan and Sri Lanka as the event will be organized in a hybrid model. Notably, the venue of the India vs Pakistan game will reportedly be Dambulla in Sri Lanka.
IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal is currently in Durban for the ICC CEOs meeting. He informed that both BCCI secretary and new PCB management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf met each other ahead of the ICC board meeting. “Our secretary met PCB chief Zaka Ashraf and the Asia Cup schedule has been finalized and as discussed earlier, it is definitely going on. Pakistan will have four matches of the league stage, followed by Sri Lanka. There will be nine matches, including both India vs Pakistan.”The game and the third game if both the teams reach the finals,” Dhumal told PTI.
Pakistan is bound to come to India for the World Cup
The Pakistan Cricket Board has been reluctant to travel to India for the ODI World Cup in October-November 2023. He said that Babar Azam The team’s participation in this prestigious event is subject to government approval. But one LCC member has said that Pakistan is bound to travel to India for the tournament. Pakistan was one of the full members to sign the ICC Members’ Participation Agreement in 2015, which was for 8 years.
“Once you sign the MPA, you are contractually bound to play ICC events at a venue decided by the global body. Obviously, security measures and other determining factors are always taken into account But if a country doesn’t do so despite security not being an issue, it can have legal and financial implications,” the ICC member said.
