Shubman Gill continued his scintillating form with the bat and smashed his maiden T20I century on Wednesday to enshrine his name in the record books. Gill, who failed to score big in the first two T20Is, made up for it and hit 12 fours and 7 sixes during his brutal innings. He reached his hundred with a cracking boundary over cover and then roared loudly to celebrate the special feat.

He lost his opening partner Ishan Kishan in the second over itself, but the 23-year-old joined hands with Rahul Tripathi to help India recover from that blow. The former Kolkata Knight Riders duo shared an 80-run partnership for the second wicket and set up a huge score for India. Tripathi put pressure on the Kiwi bowlers by scoring 44 off 22 balls.

After his departure, Shubman got some support from Suryakumar Yadav who scored 24 runs. When skipper Hardik Pandya came out to bat, he switched to his ultra-attacking approach as the duo put on a massive 103-run stand to help India cross the 200-run mark. His sensational innings continued after the century as Gill hit Benjamin Lister for a six and a four in the 19th over to score 17 runs.
