IND vs NZ, 2nd Test: Wankhede Stadium will have spectators capacity, 25 percent limit fixed

Spectators will be allowed at 25 per cent of the Wankhede Stadium’s capacity during the second India-New Zealand Test here from December 3, with the host association saying it is pushing for more.

Wankhede Stadium has a seating capacity of 30,000 people. a mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official said that they will try to increase the limit to 50 per cent.

“As per the general order of the Government of Maharashtra signed by the Chief Secretary, so far 25 per cent crowd is allowed for the Wankhede Test. The MCA is still hopeful that they can allow us 50 per cent crowd.”

The last Test at this ground was against England in December 2016.

The match will mark the return of international cricket at the iconic venue after sporting action was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic last year.

The first Test of the two-match series is currently being held in Kanpur.
