India finally defeated New Zealand in the first ODI of the three match series. In a thrilling match, Team India won by 12 runs on Wednesday.

Shubman Gill Hitting a double century in the game to be instrumental in helping India set a decent total of 350 runs. On the other hand, New Zealand lost the sixth wicket at the score of 131 in the 29th over. By this time the match was in India’s grip. From here the partnership between Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner started and with the passage of time the tide started turning.

Gill’s double century also started to fade in front of the batting of these two. Together these two batsmen took New Zealand’s total to 293 runs in 45.4 overs when the partnership was broken.

In the 46th over of New Zealand’s innings, fast bowler Mohammad Siraj brought India back into the match. He took two back-to-back wickets and on the basis of Gill’s memorable innings, put a slipping victory in the Indian team’s bag in the match. However, Bracewell did not give up. He played a stormy century but after breaking the 162-run partnership in 102 balls with Santner, despite his efforts, the spark of victory did not come out of the bat.
