Four Indian cricketers – Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Pranbhav Krishna – will represent Leicestershire under county captain Sam Evans during their four-day warm-up match starting in Leicester on Thursday (June 23). Special pre-match arrangements have been made between BCCI, ECB and Leicestershire County Cricket Club (LCCC) to ensure that all members of India’s touring party get adequate match practice.
Matches will be played with 13 players per side to provide more flexibility and help manage the bowling workload. “Leicestershire CCC will welcome party members traveling to India for a four-day tour match to be held at Uptonsteel County Ground tomorrow. India superstars Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and the famous Krishna will all join the Leicestershire squad, which will be captained by opener Sam Evans. The LCCC, BCCI and ECB have all agreed to allow up to four players from the visiting camp to be part of the Running Fox team, to allow all members of the traveling team to participate in matches (subject to fitness) .He LCCC said in a statement,
Apart from Evans, Pujara, Pant, Bumrah and Famous, the other players in the LCCC are – Rehan Ahmed, Sam Bates (WK), Nat Bolly, Will Davis, Joy Evison, Louis Kimber, Abi Sakande and Roman Walker. It will be the only warm-up game for the Indian team ahead of the July 1-5 Edgbaston Test against England, the fifth match of last year’s series postponed. India lead the series 2-1.

On Wednesday, skipper Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur practiced for over two hours at the Uptonsteel County Ground in Leicester.
Meanwhile, it is learned that Ravichandran Ashwin, who earlier missed the flight due to the COVID-19 positive result, is headed for England, a Cricbuzz report said. The India selectors have named Navdeep Saini, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Simarjit Singh as the net bowlers for the tour. The first two named are already with the squad, while Singh’s departure is believed to have been delayed.
