IND vs ENG: Watch – Rohit Sharma took a one-handed stunner at slips, which went unnoticed

The last time India won a Test match at Lord’s was in the 2014 tour of England, winning the clash by 95 runs, where Ishant Sharma picked up his career-best figures of 7/74. And the last time (2018 series) India played at the iconic venue, the hosts thrashed them by an innings and 159 runs. However, both sides left for Mecca in the ongoing series tour this year. Cricket to face off in the second Test, after a thrilling first Test that tragically ended in a draw at Trent Bridge.

Aiming to avenge their 2018 tour, the Indian fast bowlers did the same, not only chasing down England’s 272-run target, but falling to 120 runs in just over 51 overs. His spirited performance helped Team India win the match by a margin of 151 runs in front of the London crowd on the fifth day. Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj’s ripper to James Anderson sealed the deal for the visitors as he took a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series.

While Siraj’s deciding ball of the second Test celebrated on the field, many of us missed out on seeing Rohit Sharma’s brilliant reflexes in the final moments of the game. The footage shows Siraj hurling crackers to sabotage Anderson’s stumps. The ball hits the off-stump and moves quickly towards slip in the follow-through. The hitman placed in the slip cordon caught the ball in the blink of an eye, even as the ball hit the stumps and came to him.

Earlier in the match, Indian opener Sharma played a key role in helping India win the second Test. The hitman played a scintillating 83 in the first innings and opened a scintillating 126 with KL Rahul, who scored 129. India scored 364 runs in their first innings.

In reply, the hosts scored 391 in their second essay as captain Joe Root scored an unbeaten 180. Team India scored 298/8 and then declared the innings. Ajinkya Rahane and Mohammed Shami scored 61 and 56 (not out) respectively. However, as the game progressed to the final session at Lord’s, the visitors needed three wickets to win, while the hosts needed 10 overs to survive. But the Indian bowlers bundled out England for 120 runs on the final day.
