IND vs ENG: The strength and conditioning coach sheds light on Team India’s practice session in Leicester. watch

crew India Strength and Conditioning Coach Soham Desai talks about the team’s first practice session on the tour of England ahead of the warm-up match against Leicester. The Indian Test team will take on England in the fifth Test from last year’s tour, which was postponed after several COVID cases were reported at the visitors’ camp. The match is to be played on 1 July at Edgbaston.

Desai said the first training session was fun as the Indian players returned to the red-ball set-up after almost three months.

“We have got a four-day game from the 23rd, so we are back in practice after a gap of three months with red-ball cricket. “Simple game of fun and long warm-up to be here after two days,” Desai said in a video posted by BCCI on Twitter.

“They will come to Kaushal, today is an easy day on the skill front. Tomorrow they will have a long skill session before the practice match.”

Meanwhile, India will play a four-day warm-up match before the postponed Test, where they will face Leicestershire at Grace Road in Leicester on June 24.

Dravid, along with Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, who were part of the just-concluded T20I series against South Africa, flew in from Bengaluru on Sunday, a day after the fifth and final T20I ended.

In pictures shared by the BCCI’s official Twitter handle, the head coach can be seen interacting with the players who had a training session at the Leicestershire County Ground.

“Look who is here! Head coach Rahul Dravid has joined the Test squad at Leicester #TeamIndia,” BCCI tweeted along with the pictures.

Before Dravid’s arrival, India’s training sessions in England were handled by bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and batting coach Vikram Rathor. While the Rishabh Pant-led team was playing T20Is in India, the Test regulars, comprising Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shardul Thakur, had previously left for England.
