IND vs ENG: ‘It’s incredibly impressive’ – Eoin Morgan praises India’s fresh approach in T20Is

Former cricketer Eoin Morgan has lauded India’s new batting approach in the ongoing T20I series against England. Rohit Sharma & Co has been batting with a fearless attitude right from the start and has been putting pressure on the England bowlers who have worked well in their side. England, who are without their leading fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, struggled to put pressure on the visitors with the ball.

Morgan, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket, said that he is impressed by the Indian team’s new approach.

“I have seen a huge change in his attitude towards taking risks. It has been incredibly impressive,” Morgan told SkySports during the second T20I.

After tremendous performance in 2021 T20 World Cup, a lot of questions were raised over India’s approach in the shortest format, which forced a transitional phase under a new captain and head coach. India have tried and tested many young talents over the past few months who strengthen their bench strength.

Earlier, during the opening T20Is, Morgan pointed out that the current Indian approach is different from the previous squads where batsmen used to build innings and try to put a price on their wicket, but now they come up with a fearless approach. Playing which requires the shortest format.

“For me (on Thursday) the most impressive thing about India is what they lacked in the group stages of the T20 World Cup, they brought in. Every one of their batsmen hit the England bowlers hard and it hasn’t happened in the previous teams, the previous teams built India,” Morgan said during the first T20I in Southampton.


The last match of the series will be played on July 10 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham where India may make some changes to accommodate the young stars in the line-up.
