The fourth day of the rescheduled Test between India And England saw several reports of racial abuse by fans at the Edgbaston stand. On Monday, when the hosts were chasing a target of 378, many Indian fans shared pictures and videos of the alleged incident on social media. As per their claims, the incident happened during the last session.
In response to social media posts, England and Wales Cricket The Board (ECB) issued an official statement promising to investigate the matter at the earliest.
“We are deeply concerned to hear the news of racist abuse in today’s Test match. We are in contact with Edgbaston associates who will investigate. There is no place for racism in cricket. Edgbaston is working hard to create a safe and inclusive working environment, the ECB said in a statement.

Incredibly sorry to hear this. I was with my friend who wears a hijab and a ‘fan’ from England whispered the word ‘P’ to me when we asked him and his teammates for directions off the field. I straightened it out but it was a shocking moment at the end of a wonderful day.

There may be a “small minority”, but that doesn’t make it any less disgusting.
Ordinary stewards are not paid enough to face a group of rowdy, drunken, angry men.
But it must be a better way to escalate the complaint rather than let it linger. https://t.co/AO0PTfFtP0

The official Twitter handle of Edgbaston replied to his tweet and wrote, “We are very sorry to read this and do not condone this behavior in any way. [sic], We will investigate this ASAP.”

So, once we have all the facts, we will make sure that the issue is addressed expeditiously. be done,” said Warwickshire chief executive Stuart Cain.
