‘Inaction…’: Delhi LG Recalls Files Pending For More Than A Month From Manish Sisodia

New Delhi, February 12 (IANS) | Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has recalled files on infrastructure projects, interstate expressways and others pending for over a month at the level of Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Manish Sisodia. Sources gave this information on Sunday.

“In exercise of his powers of withdrawal of files under Rule 19(5) of the Transaction of Business of GNCTD Rules (TOBR), 1993, the LG has ordered the withdrawal of all such files from the Home Department which are pending for more than one month. level of Minister (Home), i.e. Manish Sisodia. The said Rule 19(5) of TOBR, empowers LG to withdraw files pending with Ministers/CM in public interest, “LG said a source in the office.

“These files are pending for years due to inaction on the part of the AAP government, though all statutory necessary formalities, procedures and permissions have been accorded with regard to removal of unauthorized religious structures built by land grabbers after 2009.” When the Supreme Court barred any further occupation of such structures and ordered their removal,” the Lt Governor’s office said.

A religious committee was constituted in pursuance of the Supreme Court judgment in 2014 to consider and recommend removal of such unauthorized religious structures on receipt of a request by the concerned land ownership agency. The committee is headed by the Home Secretary of Delhi and includes senior representatives of Delhi Police and land owning agencies in Delhi.

“Despite the recommendations of the religious committee, to remove ‘unauthorised religious structures’ that have stalled several major developmental infrastructure projects in Delhi, the Manish Sisodia-headed Delhi government’s home department has ordered various agencies to start such constructions from May 2022. 78 proposals pending. Proposals for removal of unauthorized religious structures related to construction of Delhi-Saharanpur Expressway, demolition of government residential flats and 77 corridors under general pool residential housing (GPRA) at 7 locations pending since 2018. The LG’s office said the dismantling of 77 corridors, pending since 2017 due to “inaction” of the Delhi government, is extremely important for smooth traffic flow and reducing air pollution in the capital.

The Delhi-Saharanpur Expressway, which is a part of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, is a time-bound project that is being monitored at the PMO level and is pending since 2018. The Home Department had also written a letter to Sisodia requesting him to approve and forward it. These matters are with LG, but the files are still pending.

Apart from several other projects of national importance, the construction of government residential flats and demolition of 77 corridors were also stalled by the AAP government for not allowing relocation of trees. “Compelled by this inexplicable and inordinate delay and non-compliance of his two letters to the CM in this regard, the Lt Governor in December last year recalled 11 files of the Delhi government, which were pending with Environment and Forests Minister, Gopal Singh. Opinion.”

“However, once the LG Secretariat invoked Rule 19(5) of the TOBR to withdraw these files, the Minister and the Chief Minister duly approved and signed the files within days and sent them to the LG for approval. On receiving these files, the LG office has “immediately approved the same, and work/construction activities have started on these projects,” said the LG office.
