In Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi Hits Out At BJP For Taking Away His MP ‘Tag’

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday addressed a public meeting in Kerala’s border district of Wayanad, where he arrived for the first time after his disqualification as an MP. In his speech, he launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for snatching his MP ‘tag’ and said it will not stop him from representing the people of Wayanad, nor will it scare him from raising questions.

Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad Last month after being convicted and sentenced in a criminal defamation case.

Rahul said, “Parliament is a tag. It is a post. So, the BJP can take away the tag, the post, the House and they can even jail me, but they cannot stop me from representing the people of Wayanad.” ”

The former Congress chief said he was surprised that even after so many years, the BJP has not been able to “understand” its rival.

“They don’t understand that their opponents won’t be scared. They think I’ll be scared by sending police to my house or harassing me if my house is taken away,” he said.

Rahul and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also participated in a roadshow called ‘Satyamev Jayate’ in Kalpetta.

Rahul is a ‘brave’ and ‘kind’ person: Priyanka Gandhi

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also hit out at the Centre, saying her brother Rahul was “brutally attacked” by the entire BJP government and the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) himself thought it fit to malign him just because he asks questions.

Addressing a public meeting organized by UDF workers in Wayanad, he said it is the duty of a parliamentarian to ask questions, demand accountability and raise issues.

Priyanka said, “I find it even more strange that the entire government, every minister, every MP and even the Prime Minister himself, finds it acceptable and appropriate to defame and mercilessly attack a single person, because He asks questions they cannot answer.” ,

He described Rahul as a ‘brave’ and ‘kind’ person And said he is ‘fearless’ of the power of those who try to silence him.

The Congress leader said that the people of Wayanad know that he is a kind person who is ready to listen to their issues and struggles and is ready to help them.

He said, “He has raised your issues.. He has tried to solve your problems.. He has worked hard for you.. He has stood by you in your difficult times.”

He said his future as an MP was in the hands of the court but he would keep asking questions.
