In this movie Nattu Kaka of TMKOC was Aishwarya Rai’s guru, the actress used to touch her feet everyday

Film and TV actor Ghanshyam Nayak, who was popularly known for playing the role of Nattu Kaka in the hit sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), passed away recently. The 77-year-old had been battling cancer for several years, and breathed his last on October 3. He gained nationwide attention through the SAB TV show running since 2008. Ghanshyam was one of the founding cast members of TMKOC, and was a regular since the inception of the show.

In TMKOC, he played the character of Natwarlal Prabhashankar Udaiwala aka. Nattu Kaka who was working in the electronic shop of Jethalal Gada. His scenes with Jethalal were always full of hilarious conversations coupled with his comical demeanor.

Apart from TMKOC, Ghanshyam had acted in several other TV shows and films in his career spanning over five decades. He played the role of Vitthal Kaka in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Not many people know that the lead actress of the film Aishwarya Rai used to touch Ghanshyam’s feet everyday on the sets and seek his blessings.

The reason for this is Aishwarya’s difficulty in learning Bhavai dance during the shooting of the film. Bhavai dance is a style of folk dance popular in Gujarat, and was an integral part of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. According to IBC24, Ghanshyam showed Aishwarya the Bhavai dance and the actress copied him to learn the steps. Aishwarya rated the veteran actor as her mentor, and used to touch his feet on the sets of the film.
