New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, 7,145 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported in India. During this time 8,706 people were reported to be healthy, while 289 people died. In the last 24 hours, 12,45,402 samples were tested. The active caseload stood at 84,565, the lowest in 569 days.

The number of vaccination doses in the country increased to 62,06,244, taking the total number to 1,36,66,05,173.

Active cases stood at 0.24 per cent which was less than 1 per cent of the total cases and is the lowest since March 2020. Whereas the recovery rate was currently 98.3 percent to 98.38 percent which was the highest since March 2020.

According to the health ministry’s official press release, the daily positivity rate was 0.57 per cent which was less than 2 per cent for the last 75 days while the weekly positivity rate was 0.62 per cent and less than 1 per cent for the last 34 days.

In about two weeks after the first Omicron variant case was reported from Karnataka, the cases of Kovid-19 with the Omicron variant increased to 111. 24 new cases of COVID-19 with the Omicron variant were reported on Friday, making it the highest single day increase in the country.

Maharashtra reported 40 cases while Delhi (22), Rajasthan (17), Karnataka (8), Telangana (8), Gujarat (5), Kerala (7), Andhra Pradesh (1), Chandigarh (1), Tamil Nadu ( 1), and West Bengal (1) as reported by PTI.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has urged people to avoid non-essential and mass gatherings and observe low intensity celebrations.
