In the highest vaccine pendency, the people of this village disappear when the health worker arrives

Chennai: The Karnataka government is making all out efforts to vaccinate as many people as possible in the wake of the new COVID variant, Omicron, detected in the state. However, amid the fear of an outbreak, people in rural areas of HD Kote taluk are still hesitant to take jobs and are reportedly disappearing from their homes after health officials reached the taluk.

According to a report in Times of India, the rural areas of HD Kote taluk have the highest number of vaccine pending in rural areas. District Immunization Nodal Officer, MS Jayant said that more than 2.2 lakh people in the taluk are yet to get shot. Overall, there are 281 villages with 2.4 lakh people, but most of them are still hesitant to get vaccinated, the report said.

However, the official said that they have planned several special drives and door-to-door campaigns to vaccinate the rest of the population. Dr Jayant said that recently a mobile van was started to provide vaccines to the people and through this service at least 2,000 people are vaccinated every day.

Still, another senior official said they can vaccinate people only if they decide to stop all government services for those who refuse vaccination or need incentives like free rice for those who don’t. Let’s start.

District Health Officer KH Prasad said that many people have to get their vaccines, including the second dose. He said that in the entire district, as per his records, there are 24 lakh beneficiaries above the age of 18 years and the district has partially vaccinated 94 per cent of them.
