Thane: An injured stray dog ​​bitten 34 people, including children, in Thane’s Savarkar Nagar area since Monday morning.
Santosh Kadam, Head Regional Disaster Management Cell In Thane, the corporation said the dogs were in a stampede since Monday morning and were trapped in Indira Nagar area late in the evening.
Raju Shirodkar, an eyewitness, said the dog had created panic among residents since morning and attacked passersby. “Initially, the residents tried to drive the dog away but it started attacking them after which we alerted the corporation. The dog had also attacked some children.”
Shiv Sena’s local councilor Dilip Bartke said the dog was probably injured and distressed and hence was attacking the residents. He said that the dog was elusive since morning and eventually got stuck till evening.
Officials said they were yet to ascertain whether the dog was insane. Meanwhile, dog bite victims were sent to various nursing homes where they were treated.
