In Rajasthan, students prefer pass courses instead of honors. Jaipur News – Times of India

Students in Jaipur: Rajasthan Rajasthan Have shown more interest in studying pass course subjects rather than honours. This is contrary to the national trend, where there is stiff competition to get admission in top universities. Respect syllabus.
Looking at the number of forms submitted by students, across all subjects, the Honors course has received around 1,500 forms, while the pass course has received 6,000 forms. The sharp difference between the applications of these subjects rests on the fact that most of the students in Rajasthan prepare for government examinations from their first year itself, for which having an honors degree becomes a hindrance due to being a specialized subject.

Sangeeta Gupta, principal of Maharani College said, “There is no substitute for a private degree in honors subjects. So, a student of B.Com, who is generally preparing for CA, prefers pass course. Honors has its own challenges, so the inclination towards honors subjects has decreased.
However many students who still want to take admission in Maharani or other good government colleges apply in both the courses.
Rashmi Jain, Professor, Sociology Rajasthan University He said, “The focus of students in Rajasthan is on government jobs. In Delhi University And in other reputed universities, the cut off for Honors courses is higher but not in Rajasthan University. Students want to complete their graduation for eligibility in government exams. For Honors courses, it is a special subject, so it is difficult to handle with government job preparation.”
However, it is said that the trend towards government jobs is mostly among the students who have passed out from RBSE. Till two years ago, when the percentile formula for admission was implemented, RBSE had a large number of students opting for pass courses. With the removal of the percentile formula, now CBSE students are getting more admissions and there has been a marginal increase in the number of forms submitted for honors seats. This trend may change in the coming years.
