In Punjab, Class X-XII schools open for low attendance. Ludhiana News – Times of India

AMRITSAR/ JALANDHAR/BATHINDA: Schools in Punjab less seen Presence It was reopened on Monday for students of class X to XII after almost four months.
The state government has made parental consent mandatory for students to attend schools. The government has also given the option to the students to choose online classes instead of participating in School physically.
On the first day of opening of schools, attendance was low in schools in Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur districts. Most of the students had arrived with their parents and returned with them due to the two-day parent-teacher meeting.
“Today and tomorrow, my parents will accompany me to school for PT meet, but the day after tomorrow regular studies will start. I hope schools will not be closed now,” said Harnek Singh, a class XII student. District Education Officer, Secondary, Satinderbir Singh said that he visited a few schools and found calm enthusiasm among both parents and students. Due to management reasons, most of the private schools are yet to open. AS Mahal, president of the Great India Presidency School, said that they would open the school in a day or so.
Jalandhar District Education Officer Harinder Pal Singh said that around 15% of students turned up for offline classes in 152 government senior secondary and 121 high schools across the district. Parent-teacher meet was also organized in government schools. Around 20 per cent polling was recorded at Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Nehru Garden Road.
KS Randhawa, principal of MGN Public School, said his school had about 43 per cent students. Sanskriti KMV School has about 80% students of class X and XI appeared for offline classes.
Barnala DEO (Secondary) Sarabjit Singh Toor and Deputy DEO Harkanwaljit Kaur said that the classes for class X, XI and XII started as per the standard operating procedure suggested by the health department and students attended classes in appropriate number.
As per the SOP, there should be a distance of at least 6 feet between students and schools have been advised to mark the seats that students have to occupy. To maintain proper distance, only one student will be allowed to sit on the bench, while other protocols such as using sanitizers and wearing masks will be strictly followed.
The school management has been asked to ensure proper arrangement of cleanliness in the schools. Arrangements will have to be made to clean and disinfect all areas, furniture, equipment, stationery, storage places, water tanks, kitchens, canteens, washrooms, libraries in the school premises. Each school has been asked to ensure availability of key supplies like infrared digital thermometers, disinfectants and soaps.
