Mallah told the Parliament that the commuters of Assam and Mizoram have benefited from the commencement of the Silchar-Bhairbi train service and people of both the states will be benefitted more if the train service is started between Dullabhchera and Jamuang. The MP also advocated starting a passenger train from Silchar to Dullabchera via Karimganj.
It is noteworthy that former Railway Minister and now West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee had given green signal to Dullabhchera-Jamuang train service in connection with the appeal of former Congress MP Lalit Mohan Shuklabaidya from Karimganj, when the UPA government was in power. Center. However, the project could not materialize at that time due to fund related issues.
The land formalities for the project have already been completed. It is expected that the project will be started soon after the government allocates the required funds for it.
The Northeast Frontier Railway is implementing the Bairabi-Sairang new railway line project in Mizoram. Ministry of Railways plans to complete the project by March 2023.
