Tiger skin seized from Sagbara taluka on Monday evening

Vadodara: Narmada Police has arrested a person by confiscating animal skins resembling tiger skins from Sagbara taluka late on Monday evening. Police said the accused Kishore Ahir had come from Maharashtra when the police stopped his car.
“We were doing routine check-ups at Sagbara when our team saw a car and tried to stop it. Ahir, who was driving the car, did not stop and instead ran towards Dediapara,” said Sagbara police sub-inspector KL Galchar. The police chased the car for about 2 km and stopped the vehicle.
“When the car was checked, we found a skin resembling a tiger. We took the accused to the police station and informed the forest officials. On questioning, the accused did not deny that it was a tiger skin. He said he used the skin during some rituals,” Galcher said.
Police said that there were some other people in Ahir’s car but when the car was stopped, they got out and fled. Ahir, a resident of Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, told the police that those accompanying him in the car had bought the skins.
“We suspect that the accused used the skin in some rituals or tricked people into convincing that it brings good luck. The forest department will now investigate the matter further. We have handed over animal skins to them. It will be sent for FSL testing,” said Galchar.
