In 4 hours, 239 held in all out operation by Thane police | Thane News – Times of India

THANE: As many as 239 persons were arrested in an ‘all-out combing’ operation undertaken by the over 2000 cops fanning out across the Thane city police recently.
The arrested accused include 10 external criminals.
The operation was undertaken on Friday from 8 pm to 1 am on Saturday on the orders of the Thane police commissioner, after which the cops fanned out right from Kopri up-till Badlapur where a total of 330 officers of different ranks and 1698 constables were deployed for the operation, said Ashok Moralethe additional commissioner of police (crime).
Of the total arrests, a total of 48 were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act1985 NDPS Act, 32 wanted as well absconding accused were arrested by the police. Also 15 were arrested for possessing knives, swords and booked under arms act.
A senior police officer informed that a total of 161 cases were registered.
Apart from that a total of 1292 traffic violators were also booked in which 81 were booked for drunk and drive, 119 auto drivers without uniform etc.
