Imtiaz Ali’s crime drama ‘She 2’ features in Netflix’s Global Top 10 list!

New Delhi: The new season of Imtiaz Ali’s crime drama She is trending in Netflix’s global top 10 list. One of the most-watched non-English titles this week, the series has become a huge audience favorite in 11 of the top 10 countries within two weeks of its release. This series has been watched for more than 9.5 million hours. The series is also trending at #1 on Netflix India’s Top TV list for the week.

The layered story and nuanced portrayal of a gentle-mannered woman who discovers her confidence and sexuality has gained popularity and acclaim with audiences across countries and cultures. SHE S2 has a talented ensemble cast like Aditi Pohankar, Kishore Kumar Ji, Vishwas Kini, Shivani Rangol, Sam Mohan, Suhita Thatte. Aditi reprises her bold role as Bhumika Pardeshi (Bhoomi), a constable who goes undercover as a sex worker to discover secrets in the dark alleys of Mumbai.

Written and produced by Imtiaz Ali, SHE S2 is directed by Arif Ali and produced by Tipping Point and Window Seat Films of Viacom 18 Studios. The second season sees Bhumi in a dynamic new avatar. Adopting a double life, Nayak Bhumi constantly struggles between duty and desire, juggling responsibilities, tight relationships and buried secrets.

The series’ writer and showrunner, Imtiaz Ali, says, “I’m excited at the response because I think the core conflict of ‘She’ is very subtle and internal. It’s about a woman who feels she has no sex. Doesn’t have the skills and when he has the task of being a sex-worker as part of his duty, he discovers that what used to be his biggest loss becomes his greatest weapon. Something that is so intrinsic and subtle has found traction with a global audience and it brings great joy and hope to me. It encourages me to come up with more interesting though subtle story ideas in the future.”

She: In Season 2, Bhumi continues to find herself, exploring themes of sexual awakening and duality. She’s utterly magnetic in the way she takes on the double risk of being a predator and a victim, finding herself deep in the intricate web of the protagonist’s plans while effortlessly thwarting Fernandez’s suspicions.

Over the past 6 months, Netflix’s Indian series Aaranya, Yeh Kaali Kali Aankhen, The Fame Game and most recently Mai has been consistently popular with global audiences.
