Imran Khan removed, trust vote held in Pakistan at midnight

While playing till the last ball, Imran Khan could not remain ‘not out’ even after ‘run out’ the speaker-deputy speaker. According to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the trust vote was scheduled for Saturday. However, the trust vote in the National Assembly could not begin till around 11:50 pm Pakistan time. However, in a dramatic turn, Speaker Asad Qaiser and Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri resigned. Ayaz Sadiq, a member of the chair panel of the National Assembly of Pakistan, took over as the speaker. They had started the process of trust vote just before midnight. Meanwhile, the session was adjourned for two minutes at midnight and resumed on Sunday. Then on Sunday morning, a no-confidence motion was passed against Imran Khan by a margin of 164-0. Let us tell you that in the 362-seat Pak assembly, the magic figure is 162. After this Imran Khan was removed from the post of Prime Minister. Earlier, members of Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf walked out of the assembly.

The doors of the Supreme Court of Pakistan were opened at midnight amid the political crisis of Pakistan. If the trust vote is not taken as per the direction of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, then contempt of court notice can be issued against the president and vice president Imran Khan. In such a situation, the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker came to the Prime Minister’s residence more than once at midnight and met Imran Khan. Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa met Imran Khan. After this, Speaker Asad Kaiser reached the assembly building at 11.30 pm local time. By then the jail van had been deployed outside the Pak assembly. The speaker resigned under pressure from Imran. At the time of resignation, the speaker said, ‘I have been with Imran Khan for 30 years. I joined PTI as a student. How can I direct a vote of confidence!’ He also claimed to show a white paper emphasizing Imran Khan’s theory of ‘conspiracy’, which proved that a ‘foreign power’ was behind the fall of the Pakistani government.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari casts his vote for the first time since the trust vote. One by one, another 183 members of the National Assembly voted in favor of the motion of no confidence. Meanwhile, Imran Khan left the official residence allotted to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. As soon as the results of the vote were declared in the assembly, Shahbaz Ahmed said, “Pakistan is about to make a new dawn”.
