pakistan news: Imran Khan has been re-elected as the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf once again on Wednesday (June 8). Notably, last year five days before the deadline given by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), PTI had fixed June 8 as the date for the inter-party election.

As reported by The News International, the last date for PTI to hold elections within the party was June 13, 2021, however, due to the request of the party, it was extended till June 13, 2022.

When was Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf established?

In 1997, Imran Khan founded his own political party ‘Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’. Khan contested for a National Assembly seat in the October 2002 elections and served as Member of Parliament from NA-71, Mianwali, until 2007.

In 2018, Imran Khan returned to power in Pakistan by winning 176 votes. Prime Minister Imran Khan was ousted from power after he lost a trust vote mandated by a Supreme Court decision in April.

In the 342-member house, 174 members voted in favor of the motion, while members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) remained absent during the voting.

The former prime minister said today that the current ruler “will not take a stand for the nation” as he has billions of dollars stashed in foreign bank accounts.
