Pakistan media has criticized the dissolution of the National Assembly in the country, saying what happened on Sunday violates all rules governing the proceedings of the House, especially those dealing with the no-confidence motion. In an editorial published on Monday, Dawn newspaper said that Imran Khan could have played the political game like a true sportsman and still emerged strong from defeat, as he had used sharp storytelling to get votes.

“Instead, he chose to plunge the country into a constitutional crisis. The president also failed to act wisely: instead of seeing the constitutionality of the whole process, he acted as a loyalist to Imran Khan and sided with his side. defame his office. The decision,” the Dawn editorial said.

The Pakistani newspaper argued that Pakistan has been plunged into the dark abyss of a constitutional crisis, with the parliamentary process being crushed at the behest of a leader who keeps it in deep contempt.

“It came as a harsh setback: for a self-proclaimed ‘fighter’ to display such non-player behavior is quite a fallacy. By breaking the rules of the game, rather than ‘playing till the last ball’, Mr Khan has dealt a fatal blow to constitutionalism and has given rise to the strongest concerns that he may not be fit to hold public office within a democratic set-up,” the editorial said.

After rejecting a no-confidence motion against the Imran Khan-led government, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that “Imran’s coup” forces the country into another negotiated election.
