Impressed by the film ‘Drishyam’, a Delhi man attacks himself to implicate neighbor

Impressed by the film Drishyam, a man attacked himself to implicate his neighbor, whose mother he had killed, and went to jail, police said on Monday. Police said Amarpal, a resident of North Delhi’s Majnu Ka Tila, had an enmity with his neighbor Ombir’s family over a petty issue. He said that Amarpal and others had killed Ombir’s mother on June 29 after a fight between the two. Amarpal was arrested and sent to jail in this connection. Later, he came out of jail on interim bail for 60 days.

After being released on parole, he tried to pressure the witnesses. However, when that failed, he decided to implicate them in a false case, the police said.

Police said he hatched a plan with his brother Guddu and cousin Anil. He showed them the film Drishyam and decided to make scenes and witnesses to prove his story of being shot similar to the film, he said.

Police said that as per the plan, he started convincing people that he was being threatened by Ombir’s family. Amarpal also arranged for a country-made pistol and bullet shrapnel so that the attack on him would not become fatal. The official said that Anil also included his brother-in-law Manish in his plan. They decide that Anil will shoot at Amarpal who will tell the police that Ombir and his family members were behind the incident.

Police said the Khyber Pass in north Delhi was finalized as Amarpal was a frequent visitor and many people knew about him which would corroborate his story. Amarpal visited the Khyber Pass and spent more than an hour there. Thereafter, he called Guddu to execute the plan. Police said that Guddu, Anil and Manish also reached the spot.

Anil fired at Amarpal and fled from the spot. Meanwhile, Amarpal went to his friend in an injured condition and told that his enemies tried to kill him, the officer said. Ghaziabad resident Anil (30) was arrested. Police said efforts are on to nab Guddu and Manish.
