A cyclone is likely to form over southwest Bay of Bengal and reach Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining Andhra Pradesh coasts this week. This will be the second post-monsoon cyclone and once formed it will be known as Mandus.

The low pressure area is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm and reach southwest Bay of Bengal near north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast by morning of 8 December.
In view of this development, light to moderate rain is very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday. The IMD also said that rain activity would increase with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places over North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from December 7 midnight. The weather office has predicted wind speed to gradually increase to 55-65 kmph, gusting to 75 kmph on 7th December and 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph The prevailing wind speed was expected to be in the same area on 8 December.
