IMD: Chance of rain today, IMD issued ‘Orange’ alert for the city. Gurgaon News – Times of India

Gurgaon: Due to an active Western Disturbance over the region, light to moderate rain is likely in the city on Saturday. IMD ‘Orange’ alert issued for South Haryana, Gurgaon and including Faridabad, It has predicted thunderstorms with strong winds. There is also a possibility of hailstorm at isolated places.
“Two consecutive Western Disturbances are hitting this region, first from January 3 to 5 and the second fresh one is expected to affect many parts of Haryana from Friday night to Sunday. It will peak with light to moderate rain on Saturday and drizzle on Sunday. There is also a possibility of hailstorm at isolated places. Due to cloudy sky, the day temperature is likely to remain below normal for the next 2-3 days. After the passing of the Western Disturbance, the minimum temperature is likely to drop by 3-5 degrees.
The minimum temperature on Friday was recorded at 12.3 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal.
The maximum temperature was 18 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal. Last day it was 17.6 degrees.
Meanwhile, the air quality in the city reached the ‘moderate’ category on Friday due to strong winds. The overall AQI reading was 149, much better than the 224 on the previous day. The last ‘moderate’ wind day was recorded on 8 December with a reading of 185. Since then, the city’s AQI has been in the ‘poor’ and ‘very poor’ category.
The air quality remained ‘poor’ on 13 out of 29 days, while it was ‘very poor’ on 16 occasions.
According to the IMD, the air quality is likely to improve further with predicted rain and good wind speed. “There were strong surface winds on Friday. It is expected to increase further on Saturday. With good rains, the wind will further improve the air quality,” said the IMD official.
