Virat Kohli cracks a joke at Will Jacks after RCB’s sensational win in Ahmedabad

After the sensational victory, the RCB shared a video on social media in which Jacks could be seen getting an ovation on his arrival in the dressing room.

Virat Kohli and Will Jacks teamed up to pull off the highest successful chase in the IPL history as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 9 wickets in Ahmedabad. In pursuit of a 201-run target, Kohli scored 70 not-out off 44 balls while Jacks notched up his maiden IPL hundred in 41 balls, with 10 sixes and 5 boundaries. They together put up a match-winning 166-run partnership, leaving the Titans shell-shocked.

Kohli, whose approach in the middle overs was questioned in the previous game, employed the sweep shot against the spinners to make a statement before Jacks cut loose to gun down the 201-run target with as many 24 balls to spare. The latter went berserk in what turned out to be the final over of the game, hammering as many as four sixes and a four off Rashid Khan to seal a win for RCB.

After the sensational victory, the RCB shared a video on social media in which Jacks could be seen getting an ovation on his arrival in the dressing room. Kohli also featured in the video, reminding Jacks of getting his second fifty off just 10 balls.

The England cricketer got his half-century in 31 balls and then raced to his maiden IPL hundred in just 10 deliveries.

“You got your next fifty in 10 balls. 31 first 50 and then 41 hundred. The second half was your day off at the golf course. I was pissed off I didn’t smash the first ball for six. But when you hit one at 94, I was like thank god,” Kohli said.

“He called for two and when he looked back I was ready for three. And he decided I have to hit every ball for six now because I am not running anymore. That was the secret,” he added.

Kohli on Sunday dismissed the constant talk over his strike rate against spin in the middle overs, saying he knows his game better than those who question his approach.

“There’s a reason why you do it for 15 years, for me, it’s just about doing my job. It’s kind of muscle memory for me now. People can talk about anything they want to, they can talk about me not being able to push on (strike rate) and me not playing spin well. But you yourself know the game better,” Kohli said after the match.
