Illegal sand mining case: Bhupinder Singh Honey’s ED remand extended till February 11 | Ludhiana News – Times of India

LUDHIANA: The court of district and sessions judge Jalandhar on Tuesday remanded Bhupinder Singh Honey, nephew of Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, to ED custody for three more days till February 11. Honey was arrested by the ED on February 3.
On February 4, the court had allowed his custody to ED till February 8.
Honey on February 3 had been summoned by ED to tender his statement in a money laundering case registered against him on the basis of 2018 FIR by Punjab Police against Honey’s close associate Kudratdeep Singh and others in an illegal sand mining case.
On Monday, the ED headquarters in a statement issued regarding Honey’s case had claimed that he had admitted that Rs 10 crore cash, recovered from him, was in lieu of facilitation in sand mining operations and transfer/postings of officials. The statement also said when Honey appeared before ED on February 3, he tendered his statement, wherein he said he was involved in the mining-related activities, but took an evasive approach when confronted with incriminating data.
