AR Rahman also shared a picture of himself with Ilaiyaraj at the studio in Dubai’s Firdous on Sunday. The announcement has created a buzz among fans of the two legends.

Responding to this, Ilaiyaraj wrote, “Request has been accepted. Will start composing soon.” Firdaus Studios, in response to Ilaiyaraaja’s announcement, said they can’t wait and anything is possible.

Ilaiyaraaja is a famous lyricist and singer in the Tamil film industry. He is also regarded as the foremost Indian music composer and is credited with bringing the sensibility of Western music to the South Indian film industry.

Till date, Ilaiyaraaja has composed over 7,000 songs and performed in over 20,000 live concerts. The legendary composer has been honored with five National Film Awards, three for Best Music Direction and two for Best Background Score.

He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2012 for his experimental and creative efforts in the field of music. This award is the highest Indian honor given to artists. Ilaiyaraaja has also been honored with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awards in 2010 and 2018 respectively.

Firdaus comprises women from different parts of the world and is known for performing both classical music and fusion music.
