Now, as the report was published in various sections of the media, several IIT alumni and advocates have come forward to help the poor student, said Sarvesh Dubey, the student’s lawyer.
Doctor sonal chauhan, who is currently working as Consultant MD, DMRE, MBBS at Wadia Children’s Hospital, Mumbai, filed an intervention application in the court stating that she wants to sponsor the student’s entire studies.
Appreciating the able sections of the society, especially Dr. Chouhan, who have come forward to help the student, the bench also asked the central and state governments whether there would be any provision for poor and disadvantaged students who have secured seats in prestigious exams like JEE. He has got some plan. NEET, CLAT but unable to pay fees.
Meanwhile, counsel for IIT, BHU sought time from the court to come out with the details of the student’s expenses for completing his studies including hostel expenses.
Sanskriti Ranjan, a Dalit student, is a meritorious student and cracked JEE Advanced with a rank of 1469, but could not deposit Rs 15,000 to secure a seat in IIT, BHU due to her father’s poverty and illness.
Hearing his half-baked plea, a bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh had on November 29 directed IIT-BHU and the Joint Seat Allotment Authority to admit him after creating an additional seat.
Not only this, the judge immediately paid him Rs 15,000 and volunteered the lawyers to fight the legal case.
