IIT Madras Organises G20 Seminar on ‘Role of Digital Technology in Education’

Indian Institute technology Madras (IIT Madras) organized the first G20 Education Meeting of the Working Group on ‘Role of Digital Technologies in Education’ today, January 31, 2023. The main objective of the Education Working Group under India’s chairmanship of G20 is to identify areas/themes for promoting potential research and academic collaboration between educational institutions. in G20 member states.

The G20 Seminar is being organized at IIT Madras Research Park (IITMRP) as part of the ‘Sherpa Track – 1st Education Working Group Meeting’ from January 31, 2023 to February 2, 2023. Besides this, an exhibition with 50 stalls is also being organized. As part of this grand event at IITMRP. These stalls are showcasing some of the research, innovation and cutting edge technologies.

The participants of the symposium include members of the G20 Education Working Group from each G20 member country, guest countries and international organizations, as well as representatives of select educational institutions in G20 member countries that are involved in the use of digital technologies to ensure quality education. engaged in the promotion of Improving opportunities and learning outcomes for all.

Representatives of international organizations like UNESCO, UNICEF, World Bank, and OECD, among others, were also participating along with representatives of India’s knowledge partners.

V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras and Chairman, IITMRP said, “We are going to organize three exciting sessions dedicated to school education, higher education and skill development. We have been provided with inputs from different countries on what are the challenges and best practices being followed in these different locations. This gives us a unique opportunity to understand them all so that we can work together to come up with effective solutions. We have Sustainable Development Goal #4, which talks about quality and equitable education for all. We all dream that because of these efforts which have been going on for some time, we will have a world where every child is at least a graduate.
