Kanpur: IIT-Kanpur has developed an advanced oxygen concentrator equipped with Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology to reach commercial level and benefit the public. The technology has now been transferred and licensed to a Bengaluru based company, Albot Technologies Pvt Ltd.
Anticipating the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining an adequate supply of oxygen, the inventors developed this advanced oxygen concentrator and named it ‘Sanjeevani’, which aims to ensure adequate supply and prevent future oxygen crisis. .
The oxygen concentrator operates at a flow rate of 10 lpm with an oxygen purity of approximately 92%, the concentrator has an adjustable capacity of 1 to 10 lpm, which can be used for both medical as well as personal use.
The concentrator was appointed by Professor J.J. of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Ramkumar, PhD student Siddhant Srivastava, Jitendra Kumar, Dr. Amandeep Singh Oberoi, Rupendra Aryal and Nitin Chaukhat.
During the ceremony, Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT-Kanpur briefed about several ongoing projects in the institute. He also apprised them about the ongoing progress of the School of Medical Research and Technology at IIT-Kanpur, which will have a bed of 400 patients in the campus and emphasized that the R&D activity of the school would promote research leading to innovative and cost development. effective medical device.
Professor Amitabh Bandyopadhyay, in-charge of innovation at IIT-Kanpur, mentioned that the incubator of the institute is actively working with several stakeholders including Yamuna Expressway Development Authority and some international partners to accelerate the medical device development ecosystem in the country.
The MoU exchange ceremony, which took place virtually, began with a brief welcome and introduction by Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur and Akash Singh, CEO, Albot Technologies. IIT-Kanpur Prof. Amitabh Bandyopadhyay, Prof. AR Harish and Ravi Pandey also attended.
