Guwahati: IIT excellent in guwahati National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRFUnion Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the rankings on Thursday. engaged in leading technology institute top 10 in the categories “engineering”, “research” and “holistic”.
IIT Guwahati has retained its position in the engineering category by securing seventh rank this year, while it has slipped one place to eighth in the “overall” category at NIRF 2021. In the newly introduced “Research” category, IIT Guwahati has secured the ninth position.
“This is a reflection of the dedicated effort by the faculty, staff and students of the institute despite the pandemic. This is clearly reflected in both the overall and engineering ranks over the years and is also seen in the international rankings,” said Prof. TG Sitaram said.
Highlighting the academic and research plans for the coming year, Sitaram said that the institute is working on multiple fronts of academia and industry to attract the best minds and industry leaders from across the world, who will receive honorary and guest appearances. Appointments have been made as faculty members.
This, he said, has intensified both academic collaboration and industry linkages, allowing for greater technology transfer and better publications. Sitaram said, “This has resulted in attracting higher research funds, opening up of new academic interdisciplinary schools and centers and socially relevant projects as well as linking more closely with government organizations to implement NE ”
