IISc Bangalore opens admission for BTech in Mathematics, Computing

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore on Wednesday started the application process for its recently launched BTech in Mathematics and Computing course. As per the official notification the application process will close on 30th August. The notice further states that admission to the four-year course will be made through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced.

Candidates should note that applications should be submitted online
Admission through IISc Admission Portal at- august.iisc.ac.in. The number of admissions to be made for the course is 52, informed the notification.

IISc Bangalore: Eligibility Criteria

education: The student must have passed class XII or equivalent from a recognized board with the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and any subject other than the above four.

age: There is no age limit for the exam.

IISc Bangalore: Application Fee

The application fee for ERP candidates is Rs 2000, however, the pass percentage for Unreserved category, OBC and EWS category students is Rs 800. For SC, ST, PWD category candidates, the application fee is Rs 400 for government sponsored candidates and Rs. 800 will be charged from the PSU.

IISc Bangalore: Course Structure

The core of the program is spread over four semesters consisting of six courses each in mathematics and computing areas, in addition to courses in the sciences, humanities and other engineering disciplines.

“Students can then choose softcore credits from a large pool of courses in math and computing areas, in addition to a number of exciting electives from across the institution. Helping students navigate through the large number of courses available and guide them toward specialization For, study tracks in Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Computational Science, Theoretical Computer Science, Quantum Computing, Signal Processing, Computational Biology and Mathematical Finance are designed.Students may opt for research/industry projects in their fourth year are,” said the notification issued by the institute.

“The program aims to produce leaders who will be at the forefront of research, development and innovation in future disciplines and next generation technologies that require intensive use of mathematics, computer science and data science,” read the notification.

The institute has said that after completing BTech in Mathematics and Computing, students can also pursue an MTech degree by taking additional years and project credits.
