IIM Ahmedabad, Snapdeal to collaborate on retail tech research

NS Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and Snapdeal have signed an MoU to collaborate on research related to retail technology. The Center for Digital Transformation (CDT) at IIM-A is leading this academic-industry collaboration. Snapdeal will join CDT as part of its Retail Tech Consortium, which will conduct nationwide retail surveys, develop case studies, conduct field experiments and research studies, retail tech webinars, conferences and more.

One of the initiatives being taken by the consortium is a nationwide survey about the impact of online shopping on consumers. The research will cover over 30,000 consumers across the country and help ecosystem participants, academics and policy makers have an updated understanding in this regard.

IIM-Ahmedabad’s focus is on interdisciplinary research on new and emerging technologies and their impact on innovation and business management for the next few decades. The Center has also set up an Advisory Council on Responsible Digital Transformation that will help develop best practices and guidelines designed to benefit all stakeholders and achieve the broader goals.

Professor Pankaj Setia, IIMA Chair Professor and Founding Chairperson, Center for Digital Transformation at IIMA, said, “The digitization of retail is taking place very fast. India and presents many challenges and opportunities for both online retailers as well as traditional retailers. Digital technologies are being integrated with retail processes, opening up new avenues for retailers of all types. Through the Retail Tech Consortium, we are taking an in-depth look at this changing landscape and offering solutions that enhance the overall well-being of the society.
