IIFA 2022: Shahid Kapoor to pay special tribute to late ‘disco king’ Bappi Lahiri

actor Shahid Kapoor On Thursday, he said he was looking forward to paying a “special tribute” to legendary musician-singer Bappi Lahiri at the upcoming 22nd edition of the IIFA Weekend and Awards. Known for his dancing skills, Kapoor will perform at the IIFA Awards on Saturday night. At the three-day event’s press conference that began with a special announcement event on Thursday, the “Jersey” star told reporters he was looking forward to a tribute in honor of the veteran musician, who passed away in February.

“I love to perform live. It’s the best relationship between a performer and an audience. I won’t dance to any of my songs, I’m not allowed to perform on any of my songs, (but) I do A special tribute to Hoon Bappi Da and his songs. I am excited and looking forward to it.”

Superstar will host the awards night Salman KhanRiteish Deshmukh and Manish Paul.

Kapoor said that while people think it is easy for her to dance, she hasn’t performed live on stage in six years.

“I’m excited to see live performances, awards ceremonies, travel, meeting friends and colleagues, feeling challenged and excited to do my best on stage. I’m a little nervous, people think, ‘Oh he dances’ But I haven’t actually danced (live) in six years. My last performance was at IIFA, New York.”

Khan, who is hosting the award, said that he has a long association with the IIFA team.

“This time, we have come to Abu Dhabi, with whom I have a long association. I have shot many films here. I have always enjoyed here,” the superstar said.

A pre-awards event promising the best of music and fashion on one stage, IIFA Rocks in Friday will see performances by Devi Sri Prasad, Tanishk Bagchi, Guru Randhawa, Honey Singh, Neha Kakkar, Dhvani Bhanushali, Zahrah S Khan, Dhvani Bhanushali and Asees Kaur.

The IIFA Awards will take place at the Etihad Arena, part of the Yas Bay waterfront on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), and Miral.
