In the Khanak-Dadam area of Bhiwani district in Haryana, stone worth 2.5 crore rupees comes out every day from the mine. Had the mine been excavated with bed technology, then such a big accident would not have happened here. But due to no action in the indiscriminate excavation of 1000 feet in the previous mines, the contractors were encouraged and they continued to ignore the rules here too. The game of mining was going on around Dadam hill by flouting the rules. The whole game can be easily guessed from the old mines located nearby.

Mine No. 32, where the rescue is currently underway, is near Mine No. 10. It has been excavated up to 1000 feet deep. Even the trucks parked at the bottom of the mine are not visible when viewed from above. Due to the lack of action on the continuous illegal mining, the courage of the mining mafia has increased. Now in the mine where the accident has happened, direct excavation has been done up to 400 feet deep from the surface of the ground. Had this game been controlled in time, this accident would not have happened.

Accident in Haryana due to cracking of mountains: 48 hours elapsed since the Dadam incident; Rescue operation continues even on the third day, the slipped part can become a problem

underground water flowing like a waterfall

In Mine No. 10, underground water has come out after digging up to 1000 feet. This water is flowing like a waterfall and is getting deposited on the surface below. Continuous work is being done to remove the water from the mine so that the entire mine does not get filled with water.

This is the bed technology of mining

The height of the hill should be between 20 to 24 feet at the mining site. If the height is higher than this, first the highest part of the mountain is cut and leveled. While leveling it, it is ensured for safety that the debris of the mountain does not fall on the laborers or workers. Even if a stone slips from the mountain, it will fall only 20 feet and get stuck on the first bed so that the danger to the people working below is less.

Digging by making folds with this technique ensures that the workers and machines work in a safe manner and stones do not fall on them. Even if there is sliding on a large level, the speed of falling stones should be reduced by getting trapped in the layer made by bed technology. Instead of giving 60 degree angle at the present accident site, the mountain was cut straight and cut more from the root side. This weakened the rest of the mountain and fell directly on the machine and the workers.

Mining should be banned under section 20

Section 20 of the Mining Safety Act states that where mining is to be carried out, there should not be a high peak of more than 23 feet. If the height is higher than this, then the mining work has to be stopped by sealing the area under Section 20 of the Mining Safety Act. Where the accident happened in Dadam, there was a straight wall of a hill 20 times higher than the fixed rule. Mining work was going on in its foothills.

Mining was to be done only up to 80 feet, was done till 400 feet below the surface

According to the Dadam Surface Mining Plan, mining work was to be done in Khanak-Dadam up to the level of ground water up to 100 feet. This mining was to be stopped 20 feet before the underground level. According to the rules, if we talk about it, mining could be done here only up to 80 feet. Presently the accident site itself is 400 feet deep from the ground surface.

189 crushers are registered in Khanak-Dadam

There are 189 registered crushers in the mining area spread over 50 acres in Khanak and Dadam villages. Gravel, crusher aggregates are supplied from them. About 70 to 80 thousand tonnes of stone is supplied to the crushers from these mines every day. Every day a stone worth 2.5 crore rupees comes out of the mine.

Mining against rules to do more and cheaper work in less time

The biggest reason behind mining by keeping safety rules in mind is to break a large amount of stone in a short time and work at a low cost. According to a contractor associated with mining work, according to the rules, only 1 crore per hectare is spent on preparing the hill for breaking. Breaking stone is more expensive than mining by making beds. For this reason some contractors cut the hill straight. By doing this, the cost of making beds is also saved and the part of the mountain also breaks more. For this reason, they are easy to do due to more mining in a short time.
