ICC World T20: Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander appointed as Pakistan coaches for T20 WC

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander as coaches for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Just last week, the duo of Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis resigned as the coaches of the Pakistan cricket team. The new head of PCB, Rameez Raja gave this information in the press conference.

Misbah and Waqar were appointed as the coaches of the Pakistan men’s national cricket team in September 2019 with one year remaining in their tenure.

Announcing the team’s new coaches at the press conference, Rameez Raja also said that his focus is on improving the internal workings of Pakistan cricket. He did not shy away from admitting that Pakistan cricket was going through turmoil and resolved to “talk about cricket more than anything”.

Rameez Raja said that he has become the head of PCB to change the stance of Pakistan cricket and turn things around. He emphasized on improvement in many areas of the game. He said that unless you improve the situation on the ground, there can be no development at the top level. “There is a need for better coaching academies, better coaches, better pitches,” said Raja.

“It’s a big challenge,” said Ramiz Raja. He also gave an advice to the media and said,Be responsible, back this team! I just want to talk about cricket. I have come here to change cricket.”
