Having already made the quarter-finals despite five players missing due to COVID-19, including captain Yash Dhul, record four-time champions India meant business as Bawa and Raghuvanshi took the Ugandan attack to the cleaners .

India’s highest score in the Under-19 World Cup is 425 for three sets against Scotland in 2004, while Australia has a world record score of 480 for six against Kenya in 2002.

Opener Raghuvanshi, invited to bat, scored 144 runs in 120 balls while Bawa remained unbeaten on 162 runs in just 108 balls.

The two shared a 206-run partnership for the third wicket to take the game away from Uganda.

While Raghuvanshi hit 22 fours and four sixes, Bawa decorated his innings with 14 fours and eight hits over the fence as India registered their second highest score in Under-19 World Cup history.

After Raghuvanshi’s departure, Bawa continued his attacking instincts and caught the Ugandan bowlers from all sides of the field.

It was one-way traffic as the Ugandan bowlers had no answer to the Indian attack.

Pascal Murungi took three wickets for 72 runs for Uganda.

Pakistan beat Papua New Guinea by nine wickets

In a one-sided Group C match, Pakistan demolished Papua New Guinea at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Muhammad Shahzad’s disastrous spell of 5/7 in just 6.4 overs, one of the best figures ever in the history of the tournament, broke the PNG batting line-up as they were only 50 after opting to bat first. Can score runs. Opener Christopher Kilpat scored the highest 11 runs and the team was dismissed in 23 overs.

In reply, Pakistan chased down the target in just 12 overs, losing the wicket of Mohammad Shahzad, who was dismissed for six off six balls.

This result ensured that Pakistan topped Group C with a 100% record. The group stage draw was undoubtedly kind to Pakistan, and a big challenge awaits in the form of Australia next weekend – but they will go into a confident one in their quest to win the competition for the third time.
