An era is coming to an end with the coaching staff of Indian Cricket Teams to end their tenure after ICC t20 world cup 2021. As things come to an end, India’s fielding coach R Sridhar posted an emotional thank you note expressing his gratitude to the board, captains, coaches and colleagues in the Indian team management. In the post, Sridhar said special thanks to head coach Ravi Shastri and bowling coach Bharat Arun, who will also depart from their roles with Indian cricket.
The former Hyderabad spinner called Shastri an inspiring leader and mentor and credited Bharat Arun for teaching him a lot.
For his “last assignment” with the team, Sridhar thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for serving the Indian cricket team from 2014 to 2021. The former left-arm spinner also humbly claimed that he believed he fulfilled his responsibilities with “passion, honesty, commitment” and to the best of his abilities.
Sridhar also admitted to making occasional mistakes, however, he claimed that every mistake was used to make the team a better place.
Other cricketers whose presence and help were acknowledged by the fielding coach were MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma as the two permanent captains. The coach thanked all the players as well as the entire support staff and thanked the names of other coaches Anil Kumble, Sanjay Bangar and Vikram Rathor.
“I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to interact with the coach and the amazingly talented cricketers and help them utilize their full potential. I foster lasting relationships and create memories that I will cherish for a lifetime and even further,” added Sridhar in a heartwarming note.
Along with the coaching staff, Virat Kohli will also relinquish his role as India’s captain in the limited-overs format.
In his final act, Sridhar will have the responsibility of leading India to their second T20 World Cup title. The team will play its first match against Pakistan on Sunday 24 October. The hot clash will take place from 7:30 pm.
