Who is in dispute?

The candidates have been announced for each of the first seven categories from December 28 to December 31.

There will be a shortlist of four nominees in each of those seven categories, which will include the players who have made the most credible performances in the period under consideration – from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

ICC CEO Geoff Allardyce will decide the nominees along with an awards panel consisting of leading cricket journalists and broadcasters from around the world.

How will the winners be decided?

A large section of global cricket journalists and broadcasters, also known as the Voting Academy, will vote for their first, second and third choices for each category.

The votes of the fans through the digital channels of the ICC will also be considered by the ICC.

The results of the Voting Academy’s selection and fans’ votes will be combined to determine the winner in each of the first seven categories.

How is the team of the year decided?

The ICC Team of the Year for each category will be decided by the Voting Academy through an online survey – each member of the Voting Academy will select their teams in the batting order and nominate a captain from their selection for each format.

When will the winners be announced?

The winners for each category will be announced in January.

The official ICC Team of the Year will be announced on January 17 and 18. The individual awards related to women’s cricket will be announced on January 23. The men’s awards, as well as the Spirit of Cricket and Umpire of the Year awards, will be announced on January 24.
